Wired for action: local circuits in mouse motor cortex

How is the motor cortex internally organized? I will

describe recent results from ongoing projects aimed at dissecting the

local circuit layout of mouse motor-frontal cortex, using in vitro

optical/electrophysiological methods such as glutamate uncaging and

channelrhodopsin-2 photostimulation. The focus will be on

corticospinal and corticostriatal neurons, two excitatory cell types

centrally involved in cortical mechanisms for motor control.
