The application deadline for the Biological Sciences Division is December 1, 2008. The admissions committee for the Neuroscience cluster will begin to review applications immediately. Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit all their materials by this time to ensure full consideration. All applications are submitted online. Those individuals with a strong academic background and research experience will be invited to visit the campus for interviews over a weekend, usually in mid-February. Visiting campus allows the admissions committee to meet the applicants and allows the applicants to examine the Committee on Neurobiology and compare the University of Chicago with other graduate programs. Applicants who are invited to campus for interviews are reimbursed for travel expenses. The day of interviews typically begins at 9:00 am with a general orientation and is followed by a few interviews with faculty, either members of the admissions committee or faculty requested by the applicant. Applicants receive another perspective on the program from current students during lunch. There is also an opportunity to meet with faculty who could not be scheduled for a formal interview at a reception. Applicants also may continue their converations with the current students. Finally, applicants can join several of the current graduate students for a sampling of the city's entertainment during the weekend as well. As applicants are invited to stay in Chicago for the entire
weekend,
hotel accommodations are arranged in the near north area of the city,
very
close to museums, shopping, and other places of interest. Last Updated, 06/25/2008 |
